FLOOD MAP

The Flood Map identifies the areas within Barangay Panian most vulnerable to water accumulation during heavy rainfall or river overflow. It categorizes risk by depth, with the most severe flooding of 3 Feet (dark red) occurring in a large strip along the eastern boundary, likely due to its proximity to the Lawigan River. Smaller pockets of 2 Feet (orange) and 1 Foot (gold) flood levels are also noted in the flatter eastern plains. Notably, the mountainous western region remains free of flood zones, as its steep terrain naturally directs water runoff toward these lower-lying eastern areas.

FLOOD VERSUS PROTECTION MAP

The Flood Versus Protection Map of Barangay Panian highlights the specific areas where natural water systems intersect with high-risk environmental zones. It specifically identifies Riparian Zones along the Lawigan River that are prone to Erosion (gray areas) and zones along the Creeks that are prone to 2-foot flooding (blue areas). By mapping these critical water-land interfaces against the topographic perimeter of the village, the map provides a focused guide for identifying which stretches of the riverbanks and creek lines require immediate protection or structural reinforcement to prevent land loss and flood damage.

 

FLOOD VERSUS LAND COVER MAP

The Flood Versus Land Cover Map of Barangay Panian identifies specific community assets and agricultural areas currently at risk within flood-prone zones. It highlights that the Institutional Area, which includes the entire school site, is situated within a flood-prone zone (pink area). Additionally, the map shows that 161 households across Purok 1–6 are located within a 2-foot flood-prone settlement area (dark brown), while 45 households in Purok 6 are situated in a zone where cash crops and settlements are both at risk (light orange). By pinpointing these intersections, the map serves as a critical tool for local officials to prioritize flood mitigation efforts and emergency response planning for the most vulnerable residential and institutional sectors of the barangay.
