History of the Barangay

Barangay HIMBANGAN got its name from the word timbangan (weighing scale) because, in the past, fishermen caught abundant fish which were weighed in this place.

Barangay Himbangan is the largest barangay in the entire Saint Bernard in terms of population. It has a total population of 2,355, with 531 households and 575 families. Of the total population, 1,217 are males and 1,138 are females. The barangay is divided into six puroks, although some puroks are further subdivided due to the large size of the barangay. It officially became a barangay in the year 1938.

LOCATION

Barangay Himbangan is located approximately 6 kilometers from the town proper of Saint Bernard. It is one of the six coastal barangays and is the largest among the 30 barangays under Saint Bernard.
